  • 500g beef (thinly sliced)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)
  • 3-4 dried red chilies
  • 2 tablespoons Szechuan peppercorns
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (grated)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Marinate the beef: Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Add the sliced beef and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Stir-fry spices: Heat oil in a wok, and add dried chilies and Szechuan peppercorns. Stir-fry for about 1 minute.
  3. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Cook the beef: Add marinated beef slices to the wok and stir-fry until they are cooked and browned.
  5. Make the sauce: Add onion, bell pepper, chili paste, sugar, and water. Stir and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve: Serve hot with steamed rice.
