- 500g beef (thinly sliced)
- 1 onion (sliced)
- 1 bell pepper (sliced)
- 3-4 dried red chilies
- 2 tablespoons Szechuan peppercorns
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon chili paste
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon ginger (grated)
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt to taste
Method:
- Marinate the beef: Combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Add the sliced beef and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- Stir-fry spices: Heat oil in a wok, and add dried chilies and Szechuan peppercorns. Stir-fry for about 1 minute.
- Add garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
- Cook the beef: Add marinated beef slices to the wok and stir-fry until they are cooked and browned.
- Make the sauce: Add onion, bell pepper, chili paste, sugar, and water. Stir and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Serve hot with steamed rice.
